Short description of the different couplings types

Simple slip-on claw couplings

These simple claw couplings are made of high-quality plastic. They are maintenance-free and wear-resistant, electrically insulating and insensitive to water, dust, oils ets. Their small dimensions result in low weight and a low moment of inertia. The torque is transmitted via a large number of meshing, slightly tapered follower cams enabling easy adjustment or readjust-ment.

Gear-type couplings

Gear-type couplings are shaft connections to compensate for axial, radial and angular shaft misalignments. In the case of relative movements within the admissible tolerance range, compression across the edges can be avoided owing to the crowned form of the teeth. The couplings therefore operate nearly wear-free. The material combination steel/polyamide permits maintenance-free continuous operation with very favourable friction values. The materials used are resistant to commercial lubricants and hydraulic fluids. Continuousoperation temperatures of + 80°C with temperature peaks up
to + 120°C are admissible. The low weight and small dimensions suit the demands for
compact machine design.

Torsionally flexible claw couplings of Al

This couplings are torsionally flexible and designed for positive torque transmission. They are fail-safe. Operational vibrations and shocks are efficiently attenuated and reduced. The two congruent coupling halves with concave claws on the inside are peripherally offset in relation to one another by half a pitch. In addition, they are designed in such a way as to enable an onvolute spider to be located between them. The teeth of the spider are crowned to avoid edge pressure if the shafts are misaligned. The couplings are capable therefore of compensating, axial, radial and angular displacements of the shafts which they connect. The spider is extremely resistant to wear oil, ozone and ageing. Particularly noteworthy is its resistance to hydrolysis (ideal for tropical climates). Owing th the high internal attenuation the drive is protected against excessive dynamic loading.

Elastic slip-on couplings

This simple slip-on coupling is positive-locking and safe in its operation. It is longitudinally, transversely, angularly and torsionally flexible and easy to mount. The torque is transmitted via an elastic intermediate ring made of highly shock-absorbing, oil-resistant and thermally insensitive material (-25 to + 100° C). Its design permits universal application and trouble-free operation. The coupling is maintenance-free.

Chain couplings

The flexible roller chain coupling comprises three basic elements: Two standard sprocket wheels with inductionhardened teeth and a heavy-duty precision roller chain designed to withstand an increased breaking load in accordance with DIN 8187. Due to the fact that each link handles only a fraction of the total load, this compact-design coupling is able to transmit high loads. It is furthermore a very economical solution.
